Welcome to planDisney, Jen! We are glad you found us to help answer your question. As someone with a lot of -- well,
experience -- with
My Disney Experience, I am happy to assist you.
It sounds like you might be the planner in your travel party -- I am too! It also sounds like you have already connected with others you plan to travel with through
Family & Friends in My Disney Experience. This is a great start! That means you will be able to add anyone in your Family & Friends List to any plans or reservations you make, including
Disney Resort Hotel reservations,
dining reservations,
Disney Park Pass reservations, and
Lightning Lane reservations booked with
Disney Genie+ service.
Anyone who already has their own My Disney Experience account is the manager of their own profile. That means they can edit their personal information such as phone number and mailing address, account settings, communication preferences, and stored payment methods for in-app purchases. The account owner also manages their own tickets, which means they can make changes or upgrades to their tickets or reassign their ticket to another Guest. They also manage their own
MagicBands and can activate or deactivate a MagicBand linked to their profile or report a lost MagicBand. A different person cannot be designated as the manager of the account.
If you have created profiles for Guests in your account, such as for children or other members of your household, then you are the manager of those profiles and you will see "Plans Managed by Me" next to their names in your Family & Friends List.
I'll give you a couple of examples. Originally, when I set up My Disney Experience, I was the only person in my immediate family with an account. I created profiles for my husband and children in my account, and I was the manager of everyone's plans. My eldest son has since created his own My Disney Experience account, and I
updated his profile under my account which allowed his tickets and MagicBands to transfer over to his new account. I can still add him to any of our vacation plans, but I no longer control his MagicBands and I can no longer edit his personal information. If I assign a ticket to him, he is then the owner of the ticket and I cannot modify that ticket. Whereas if I assign a ticket to my daughter, since I still manage her profile, I can reassign that ticket to a different Guest and make other ticket changes.
I often visit Walt Disney World Resort with friends who each manage their own My Disney Experience accounts. Prior to travel, we make sure we are connected through Family & Friends, and we can all make and share vacation plans for one another.
I hope that helps! If you have any additional questions, please feel free to stop by planDisney again anytime. Have a wonderful vacation!
