Hi Ryan!
Welcome to planDisney! I am so glad that you found us hEAR to help with your
Disneyland Resort Theme Park Ticket dilemma. I don't blame you for wanting to switch up the tickets you already have for the even longer (and better value)
Southern California Resident offer. An extra Disney day means more time soaking up the sun with loved ones (or some solo self-care), enjoying your favorite
treats and eats, re-riding the classic attractions, as well as exploring some
new fun, too!
Wholly unused tickets may have their value applied towards tickets of equal or higher prices. But, I've been in your shoes, Ryan, and was successfully able to pull the day-ticket to promotional-offer trade-in off. In 2019 my great friend and Disney World panelist
Veronica O. visited California and had one day designated to
Disneyland Park. My family was stationed nearby so I picked up single-day, 1-park military tickets that were way cheaper than the gate price. Well, two days before their arrival, and of course after I purchased the tickets, Disney announced a super-special 1-day Park Hopper 'bring a friend' promotion for Annual Passholders that was actually a few bucks cheaper than the admissions I had just bought. We stopped by the ticket booths to inquire if we could make the upgrade and learned that it is possible, but it's a bit tricky. Because there are no refunds, we couldn't just get our money back and repurchase the new passes. And due to the new offer being cheaper than what I initially paid, the 'upgrade' in the ticket type was still less monetarily and the system would not process the transaction due to the negative balance. What eventually worked was adding the then MaxPass option to each of the new promotional tickets we were wanting, applying the value of the tickets we had, and then paying for that additional add-on difference.
To make your ticket switch, Ryan, you will need to speak in-person with a Cast Member at the ticket booths in The Esplanade as sadly this exchange is unable to be done in the app, online or over the phone. I'm not one hundred percent sure of how your upgrade will work; the best option is if they are able to put the total amount already paid for the three tickets (*$765) toward the total due for the new four (*$796). However, you might be asked to upgrade each of your tickets individually. If this is the case, you can still get in on the SoCal Resident offer by selecting the 3-day Park Hopper
or the 3-day 1-park-per-day with
Genie+ option (each is *$259) and paying the small difference. Then you would buy that fourth ticket outright. And Pro Tip: Still go ahead and make the
Park Pass Reservations with the tickets you do have to lock in your
Disney days now. The ticket Cast Member will be able to assist with reservations for your fourth ticket.
I hope this helped clEAR things up, Ryan, And We'll See You Real Soon!
~Kristen N.
