Hey Howdy Hey, Makayla!
You've stopped by planDisney at the
practically perfect time because I purchased Lightning Lane passes for my upcoming vacation just yesterday, so I'm absolutely ready to help you maximize the magic and minimize wait times during your Walt Disney World vacation. Let's talk Lightning Lanes!
Both
Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass are great tools to help you enjoy some of Walt Disney World's most popular attractions with less wait. Guests of Disney Resort hotels (and a few select others) are eligible to purchase Lightning Lanes for their entire length of stay beginning 7 days before check-in, while all other Guests can make their purchases 3 days in advance of their visit.
Although advance purchase is recommended, Mickey understands that plans can change, so modifying the theme park of your Lightning Lane purchase before use is very straightforward. You'll begin by opening the
My Disney Experience app, selecting the three horizontal lines in the bottom right corner of the screen, and then choosing 'Lightning Lane Passes'. This will populate a list of your current Lightning Lane purchases and reservations by date. If you would like to modify your Lightning Lane purchase, you'll simply select the 'Lightning Lane Multi Pass' heading under the date on which your plans have changed and then choose 'Modify Lightning Lane Multi Pass'. From there, you'll be able to select a new theme park or date of use (pending availability) and choose your new attractions. It's important to keep in mind that prices for Lightning Lane passes vary by theme park and by date, so in the event your new selection is priced higher than your original, you will be immediately prompted to pay the difference. If your new selection happens to be cheaper, you will not be refunded. While it is possible to modify your Lightning Lane selections after purchase, because supply is limited, certain attractions — like my favorite,
Slinky Dog Dash — might not be available later in your booking window, so for the best chance at securing the most popular attractions, you'll want to make your purchases and reservations as early as possible.
Did you know that although your Lightning Lane Multi Pass purchase will be for a specific theme park, Guests with Park Hopper tickets can use the purchase to reserve rides in multiple theme parks at no additional cost? While your three initial Multi Pass selections will need to be in the theme park of purchase, once you've redeemed your first experience, you can not only make a new selection in a different theme park but also modify your existing selections to attractions in another theme park as well.
I hope this clears things up, Makayla, and that you have an incredible time in The Most Magical Place on Earth. If any additional questions arise as you finalize your plans, feel free to come visit us again at
planDisney! If you have any questions about redeeming or modifying your Lightning Lane passes once you're in the middle of the magic, I encourage you to locate a Guest Relations Cast Member (look for the blue umbrellas). They are always happy to help!
Thinking Happy Thoughts,
Lizzie
