Hey Howdy Hey Emily and welcome to planDisney!
Emily, you will be visiting Walt Disney World Resort during its Extra Magical transition to celebrate the holiday season. Virtually overnight, right after Halloween on October 31, the Magical transition begins in the parks and the resorts. There is so much to take in I cannot wait to share some of my top "Must Do" activities with you.
One of the big things you might still be able to take full advantage of is over at EPCOT. With
EPCOT's International Food and Wine Festival, you can travel the World (Showcase), and sample food from many countries and booths around the park. In the evenings, you will also find entertainment and live music with
Eat to the Beat Concert Series which makes this experience so much more entertaining!
Ok, now let's get into some of the special holiday tips! Magic Kingdom and many of the other parks and resorts will undergo their transition for their holiday celebrations in early November. I would make sure to take a walk down Main Street U.S.A., to get the full feel of the holiday season in Magic Kingdom.
Many of the Disney Resorts Collection hotels will also have special things to celebrate the season. It always is fun to resort hop either by bus, monorail or skyline and check out what all these resorts have to offer. My favorite would be hopping on the monorail to check out Disney's Contemporary Resort, Disney's Polynesian Village Resort and Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. They will have their unique decor and themed treats for the holiday season and this is a great way to spend an afternoon or evening. I would also keep an eye on the Grand Floridian Resort. This resort usually has a full-size replica of a gingerbread house that operates as a store you can purchase snack and drink items from! Definitely on the "Must Do" list!!
Over at
Disney Springs, you will find they have a walking tour around the Springs of Christmas trees decorated in very different ways. You can make this holiday event even more special while walking with a hot chocolate and sweet treat at a few locations throughout the Springs. In the past, you might also find at Disney Springs and EPCOT fun Christmas Cookie Trails. Now, these informal trails are more like walking journeys through these locations with unique and fun Christmas Cookies for purchase along the way specially made with holiday flavors. It's fun to take a walk and try them all!
Let's be honest, these are all great options but the place you will want to be is in Magic Kingdom. You will also find the start of the most Magical celebration during the holiday season with their holiday party. With the recent announcement of the return of the beloved Mickey's Not-So-Scarry Halloween Party, rumors abound about the anticipated announcement of Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party in Magic Kingdom returning. This party is full of holiday cheer including unique parades, firework shows, snacks and snow! As we continue to wait for the official word, keep an eye on
Disney Parks Blog for more information about this party and details of many of the food and snack options above.
The most Magical season of the year celebrated in the Most Magical Place on Earth is a combination you won't forget. There is so much going on in Walt Disney World for this time of year and I am glad you are starting your planning now! If you have any further questions please stop back and let us know, we would be happy to help!
Happy planning,
Nick
