What are the chances of sailing to Alaska from the USA instead of Canada? I would rather fly to the coast and get on the ship in the USA. I went on the Alaska cruise a few years ago and it doesn't look like the ports they stop at haven't changed.

    Ahoy, Cindy!

Welcome aboard planDisney! It sounds like Alaska has already cast its spell on you once, and I completely understand why you’re ready to answer that call of the wild again. There’s something about watching a glacier calve or spotting wildlife in the distance that feels like stepping into a real-life scene from Brother Bear. My family still talks about the breathtaking beauty of those icy blue waters, and we’re hoping to head back in 2027 ourselves!

Now, as for your question about sailing to Alaska from a U.S. port—while I wish I could channel Madame Leota and predict the future, if we look at Disney’s past itineraries, I’d say it’s likely they’ll continue to depart from Vancouver, Canada for the time being. There’s a lot of behind-the-scenes magic that goes into scheduling Alaskan cruises, including maritime regulations, port availability, and fuel efficiency, so Vancouver remains the most practical (and stunning!) choice. But just like Moana couldn’t resist the pull of the ocean, Disney Cruise Line keeps expanding its horizons, so I’m crossing my fingers for more U.S. departures one day, too!

And I hear you about wanting some variety in the ports. While the Alaskan itineraries have remained fairly consistent—those fan-favorite stops like Skagway and Ketchikan are classics for a reason—the real magic is in how no two Alaskan cruises feel the same. Wildlife sightings, weather, and even the way the light hits the glaciers change every experience!

If you’re itching for a change of scenery while you wait for those new itineraries to be released, you might consider mixing things up with a cruise from Florida, Texas, or California in the meantime. Even though Galveston and San Diego aren’t year-round departure points (yet), they’re a fun way to shake up your Disney cruising adventures—kind of like trying a new flavor at Eye Scream Treats!

I hope this helps as you dream of your next big adventure. Whether you’re headed back to Alaska or charting a different course for now, I know your next Disney cruise will be filled with moments as magical as spotting the Northern Lights from the deck.

Sea ya real soon with a July full of fireworks at sea and memories that sparkle like pixie dust,
