Hello, Diana. Welcome to planDisney, where we answer all of your Disney vacation planning questions with a smile!
Central Florida is no stranger to a little rain. Luckily, especially near and during the summer months, rain doesn't typically last the whole day through. As a teacher, I often visit the resort during the summer when school isn't in session, and normally, each day, it rains at some point. These rain showers are usually quick and happen in the afternoon. I use this time to enjoy one of the many indoor attractions or entertainment offerings, grab a bite to eat at a quick-service location, or shop for my next favorite souvenir. And the best part? There will be people who leave the park during this time, which means when the rain lets up, there are usually shorter waits at the outdoor attractions that had to close due to the weather! Now
that's worth sticking around for!
You usually can
change the date of a wholly unused theme park ticket by using the
My Disney Experience mobile app, selecting the three horizontal lines (☰) in the bottom right-hand corner, clicking the tile that says "My Tickets & Passes," finding the ticket in question, selecting the option to "Change Ticket," using the calendar to select a new date, and following the prompts. This also can be done on the Walt Disney World Resort website by selecting "
My Plans" from the My Disney Experience dropdown menu, clicking "Tickets, Passes & Memory Maker" under the "My Plans, Reservations, and Tickets" heading, finding the ticket, and selecting the link to "Change Ticket." It's important to note that, according to the
Terms & Conditions, if your new date is more expensive, you will be responsible for the difference at the time you make this change. If it happens to be less expensive, you won't receive a refund for the difference.
When it comes to attractions during the rain, there are a few that you'll catch me riding as they are easy to duck into because they don't typically have long waits. Here we go:
- In Magic Kingdom Park, you'll find me at "it's a small world," Under the Sea - Journey of the Little Mermaid, or Mickey's Philharmagic.
- When it comes to EPCOT, I'm going to Living with the Land or the Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros!
- I'm making a beeline to Muppet*Vision 3D in Disney's Hollywood Studios or, since that one will likely be closing soon to make way for a Monster Inc.-themed land, Star Wars Launch Bay.
- For Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, you better believe I'm catching the next show of Festival of the Lion King. Just note that with this one, some of the queue is outdoors, so you may get a little wet while waiting!
Diana, I always pack a UV umbrella ever since my lovely friend
Michelle R. introduced them to me. This way, I'm covered from the sun when it gets too strong and the rain when it gets too wet. But remember, the resort is still the Most Magical Place on Earth, even when it's raining. And there's
always fun to be had.
Reach out again with any other questions!
TTFN! Ta-ta for now,
Matt
