Are cellphones able to be used on the Disney Dream? Also what would the charge be for talking or texting while on board ? We are cruising for the first time July 4, 2012.

    Hi Marc!

Oh my goodness, don't use your cellphones!  The roaming charges are high, unless you have some type of arrangement with your long distance carrier.  I turn mine off when we set sail.  Thankfully, Disney Cruise Line now has two Wave Phones in their staterooms.  These phones can be used throughout the ship and close to the ship.  You can use the Wave Phone to communicate not only with others in your party, but with Guest Services, youth clubs, and restaurants, just as you would your stateroom phone.  Wave Phones also have voice and text messaging capabilities.  Please remember that although there is no charge for using the Wave Phones, the fine that is charged if you lose or damage one is rather costly.

Now that my children of old enough to check themselves out of their youth clubs, I have set times when I go check on them in their clubs (and they have to be there), and we also have meet ups at specific times and places.  If someone's plans change, we leave voice mails for each other on our stateroom phone or just leave a note in the room.  It really does work.

I hope this helps.  Please let me know if I can help you with anything else.  Bon voyage Marc!

Magic Kingdom still takes my breath away, but my favorite place to be is on a Disney ship looking at the horizon and breathing in that crisp, clean ocean air!  I love planning Disney vacations for others and making sure it's more than they dreamed. Learn More About Marisol
