Hi Janice:
I've always found that
Wilderness Lodge Resort is the most comparable Resort to Animal Kigndom Lodge. The rooms are similar in size and the price is usually comparable also. Similar to Animal Kingdom Lodge, the first thing you'll notice about Wilderness Lodge is the stunning atmosphere and theming. Wilderness Lodge is themed after the American Northwest, and is a a deluxe Resort providing deluxe resort amenities. Just like Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo House, Wilderness Lodge features a breathtaking lobby, complete with fireplace. Also the restaurants at Wilderness Lodge are wonderful and include the hearty Artist Point and the fun Whispering Canyon Cafe.
One of the best parts of staying at the Wilderness Lodge is that there is boat transportation to the Magic Kingdom. The boat ride to the Magic Kingdom takes about 10 minutes. Boats are generally scheduled to depart every 20 minutes, but often set sail more frequently.
Other options to consider are the Polynesian and the Contemporary. The Polynesian has a relaxing tropical feel, a great pool, proximity to the Parks, and has great restaurants right on sight. I also have a soft-spot for the Contemporary Resort, one of the original Walt Disney World Resorts. I still remember the wonder I felt as a six-year old staying at the Contemporary Resort and watching the monorail run right through the A-frame Tower and marveling at the lobby's 90-foot, floor-to-ceiling ceramic mural created by Disney Legend, Mary Blair.
Enjoy your vacation.
