Celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary at BLT next June (we honeymooned at the Contemp in 1992). We have a reservation, and are trying to make a room request (for a certain area of the resort) but can't figure out how via the app or the website.

    Hey there, Rich!

Wow, congratulations on your upcoming anniversary! Thirty years of marriage certainly deserves a magical celebration. I love the idea that you are returning to where you spent your honeymoon to mark this special occasion!

If you have a room request, the best way to do this is to call. I know with longer than typical hold times, this isn’t anyone’s favorite answer right now, but this is the best way to go about it. The ability to make specific requests is very limited online. When you go to do online check-in before your stay, some resorts will give you request options, but these tend to be very general and offer options like being on a higher floor, or close to the lobby. Do know that requests are just that, and are not guaranteed. If a reservation was made with Disney Vacation Club, the Member will need to call Member Services. If it is a cash reservation through the Walt Disney World Travel Company, you will call Disney directly. I would also make sure your celebration is noted as well!

Another option is to try to send a fax with your room request to the resort about a month before arrival. Who uses a fax anymore right? But there are several companies online that will send a free fax for you, and a look with a search engine will likely yield the needed number. While it is a subscription-based service, I usually utilize the website Touring Plans. This site has a lot of free planning information, but subscribers can have a room request fax sent to their Disney Resort Collection Hotel. While it hasn’t worked for me every time, I would say 3 out of 4 times I do get my request. I do find that making general requests tends to yield better results than asking for a specific room number. On our most recent trip I requested a high floor, and to be near our friends. Both of these requests were granted, and I was thrilled!

Since you’ll be celebrating on this trip, be sure to ask the front desk for your complimentary anniversary celebration buttons! You’ll get well wishes from Cast Members and fellow Guests, and maybe even a little extra pixie dust gets sprinkled your way!

I hope this helps answer your question, Rich. And if you have more questions about planning your trip like where to enjoy the perfect celebratory meal or which Enchanting Extras to add to your trip, come back and see us here at planDisney!

    Have a Magical Day!
