Hi! My DH and I will be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary April 2016 at WDW. We will be staying at WL and YC. Do you have any romantic suggestions? I am also wondering if the specialty cruises are private or if there would be other guests on board?

    Leslie:

First of all, congratulations on 25 years together! That is something to celebrate, and here are some of my insights to help:

    • Celebrations in my family usually mean special dining. I've never been able to plop down the money for Victoria & Albert's but I can tell you our dining experiences at California Grill atop the Contemporary with a reservation about 30 minutes before sunset was one of our favorite dining experiences of all time. Additionally, on our stay last January, our dinner at Narcoossee's couldn't have been more delicious and the fireworks at Magic Kingdom from its veranda equally impressive.
    • You mentioned a specialty cruise. I've been on three: the Pirates & Pals, the Magic Kingdom fireworks, and the Illuminations cruise. For romance, the Illuminations cruise down the canal between your resort at the Yacht Club and on to Disney's Hollywood Studios would be my pick. Best of all, it will be just the two of you and the captain. If you're looking at a budget, the Pirates & Pals cruise would be 1/3 of the cost but you'd be sharing the experience with children and others.
    • We celebrated our anniversary several years in a row by running a RunDisney race. For some folks--and me about 10 years ago--that doesn't sound like fun. But it was the training at home before the actual races that brought us close together. We started out with the Expedition Everest Challenge which was just a 5K and moved up to running two half-marathons together and now, after several years, we hold over 10 RunDisney medals between the two of us.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
