We will be celebrating my sons first birthday in June and would like to have a healthy (sugar-free or low sugar) birthday cake that he can attack. How do I go about getting one? Do I supply a recipe? Can I make one and bring into a restaurant?

    Hi Laura,

A first birthday is a significant milestone and your birthday boy will be able to have his sugar-free cake and eat it too!

Recently, BabyCakes NYC began taking orders for special occasion cakes from its Downtown Disney location. BabyCakes specializes in treats (including cakes) for guests on special diets including refined sugar-free items!

Two-layer, six-inch cakes are available in multiple flavors. See www.babycakesnyc.com for more information. I'd also recommend checking out www.disneyfoodblog.com which has an informative section on Special Diets at WDW.

    Here's what to do:
First, make an Advance Dining Reservation at the WDW restaurant of your choice.

Next, call BabyCakes at 407-938-9044 and allow at least a week's notice. You'll need your restaurant confirmation information when you call.

I hope your son's first birthday is magical and memorable!
