We'll be celebrating our son's 1st birthday at Disneyland! What are some fun ways to celebrate a toddler's special day? Suggestions for a smash cake in the park? Where would you go for a birthday dinner with the family (6adults, 2kids)? Thx!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Emily. I'm so glad to hEAR you'll be celebrating your son's 1st birthday at the Happiest Place on Earth.

Though I now have a tween and a teenager in my home, I vividly remember each of their 1st birthdays like it was yesterday. Some memories just don't slip parents' minds. While your son will not remember his trip to the Disneyland Resort, you and your family sure will! Definitely utilize Disney PhotoPass photographers to capture all the special moments in front of iconic locations throughout the parks. That way, everyone in the family can be in those keepsake photographs that you'll cherish for decades to come!

While your son may not keep his Mickey Ears on his head for more than 5 minutes, I personally love adding embroidered Mickey Ears and hats commemorating special occasions and milestones to our family collection. Even those 5 minutes of wearing his Mickey Ears will provide you with priceless photographs and memories. And though I don't recommend pinning his shirt with a complimentary Happy Birthday button, you can pin it to a ribbon and hang it on his stroller. Little ones love balloons and light-up toys. Many of these can be found on Main Street, U.S.A. and the Emporium.

As for a celebratory dinner, Goofy's Kitchen may be a fun place to go if your son isn't afraid of characters. Otherwise, any table service restaurants are great places for your family to enjoy a nice sit-down meal to rest your tired feet. Inform the Cast Member at the restaurant you're celebrating your son's 1st birthday. Usually, they'll bring a dessert item (we've had cupcakes in the past) to celebrate. It can serve as the smash cake!

I hope this information is helpful for you, Emily. Remember to take lots of photos and enjoy this special occasion. Please visit us on the Panel again if you have further questions.

    Have a magical day,
    Kiki

Meet the Panelist: Kiki, California

Greetings from Northern California! I have been fascinated by the magic of Disney since I was a little girl; now that I am a mother of two, I love watching my children experience Disney Parks through their own eyes. I am also surrounded by fellow Disney-loving nurse friends whom I enjoy quick adults-only Disneyland Resort escapes with. Whether you are planning your once-in-a-lifetime family trip or a short adults-only getaway to the Happiest Place on Earth, I am here to help!
