We are celebrating my nieces 15th birthday at Typhoon Lagoon after hours celebration next week. Can I bring in cupcakes? Thank you!

Hi there Kathleen and welcome to planDisney!

As a fan and frequent floater over at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon water park, I'm glad that I get to provide you with a bit of watery wisdom ahead of your niece's birthday visit coming up soon!

You'll be happy to hear that guests are currently allowed to bring outside food and (non-alcoholic) beverages into the Theme Parks and water parks with a few key restrictions. I asked a friendly Cast Member who let me know that in the case of cupcakes, you'll need to make sure that they do not require any refrigeration and are not brought in any glass containers. While policies at Walt Disney World Resort property may always be subject to change without prior notice, I have definitely seen my share of fellow folks and families bringing in their own treats to enjoy at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon water park. In fact, I've noticed a fair few bringing in coolers that the Cast Members may request to take a look at - but there currently aren't any security scanners that guests are required to pass through at the entrance like at the Theme Parks or Disney Springs.

Celebrating a birthday during Disney's H2O Glow After Hours event provides you with all of the ice cream novelties that your niece can dream about included with admission, so that's something that you might want to keep in mind. If the Foodie Guide on the Disney Parks Blog is any indication, there are so many unique and exclusive treats that you just might want to purchase for her in lieu of cupcakes and I highly recommend entering as early as possible around 6:00 p.m. to make sure you make the most of your evening. Because of the special appearances that happen during the event, it may be a good idea to get your niece something safe to wear (instead of a birthday button) to put on overtop her swimwear like a birthday sash so that the Cast Members, Characters and DJ can see that she's celebrating!

If you're heading in with a large group, there are some covered long tables between the Storm Slides and Typhoon Tilly's that are never as busy in our experience, that'll feel like your own private birthday celebration space! Hope this helps, Kathleen - don't hesitate to come back to planDisney again for any more tips or advice ahead of your next adventure, aquatic or otherwise.

Hoping your niece's 15th Birthday celebration will be a real splash!
