In 2013 celebrating my 60th birthday, and as a long time "Disneyphile", with a week at Disney World. Thinking, stay at a moderate hotel in the park then the last two days someplace really nice with a view, ever hear of this? Recommendations?

From one "Disneyphile" to another, Steven, I can tell you that many guests do what is called a "split stay".  It's when you, well, split your stay between two or more resorts in order to experience just a little more Disney while you're in town.  Based on your criteria, I'd suggest a stay at Port Orleans Riverside (a moderate) and the granddaddy of all Disney resorts, The Grand Floridian.  You can request (and pay for) a theme park view there, which should give you a glimpse of Cinderella castle right from your resort room.  What better way to celebrate a milestone birthday?  I say go for it!  I hope that helps.
