Ahoy there, Rocio. Welcome to planDisney!
How exciting you’re planning to celebrate a big milestone birthday on a Disney cruise. I recently planned and sailed with 11 other family members in 4 different staterooms and I’m more than happy to give you some tips!
There are 2 ships sailing from San Diego in April 2026,
Disney Wonder and
Disney Magic. Both are great timeless classics with plenty of activities to do for all Guests. Important “first steps” to consider are how many nights you’d like to sail and where you wish to explore. A 3-night cruise leaving on Friday and returning Monday is a nice weekend getaway to Catalina Island and Ensenada. If you prefer a longer vacation (who doesn’t, right?) a 7-night cruise on Disney Wonder brings you to Ensenada, as well as Cabo San Lucas and Puerto Vallarta.
Then, you’ll decide which stateroom category you’d like to stay in. For our recent multi-family cruise, we opted for 1 inside stateroom and 3 side-by-side verandah staterooms. We asked our stateroom host to open up the dividers between our balconies. We basically had one long balcony for us to relax and hang out in throughout our cruise.
Once you’ve booked your cruise, you can access your reservation on the
Disney Cruise Line website or
Disney Cruise Line Navigator App to indicate the special occasion you’ll be celebrating! You can also link your entire group’s reservations so that you’ll be assigned a large table at dinner. By indicating your special celebration, you’ll be treated to some fun pixie dust throughout your cruise!
For an extra touch of extravagance to celebrate your 50th birthday, I recommend dining at the adult exclusive venue,
Palo (additional fees apply)! Onboard the Disney Magic or Wonder, you can enjoy an even more memorable experience by requesting a private dining room which can accommodate 8-14 guests. You’ll just need to
fill out a form to request a reservation for Palo’s dining room and email to DCL.Cruise.Activities@disney.com.
I suggest having other Guests in your party check out the Disney Cruise Line website. This will help get them excited for the cruise as well. Once you're ready to book, you can simply do so online! The website is very user friendly. Or if you prefer to use a travel agent, just be sure they are Authorized Disney Vacation Planners!
As you continue to plan your upcoming cruise to celebrate your birthday, please don’t hesitate to stop by

Hope to SEA ya real soon,
