Hi, Bridget!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Celebrating Mardi Gras at the Disneyland Resort or Walt Disney World Resort sounds like a great idea.
This year at Disneyland Park, Bayou Bash in
New Orleans Square included appearances by Princess Tiana, Louis and Naveen, plus other favorite Disney characters dressed in their Mardi Gras finest for meet and greet opportunities. The festivities featured jazz music, parades and street performers—some throwing out beads to the crowd—and special food items to give Guests a taste of New Orleans and its Southern hospitality. I had a great time enjoying Bayou Bash with my family a couple months ago. The lively atmosphere made me feel like I’d been transported right to Louisiana!
Although I’ve never been at Walt Disney World on Fat Tuesday, I heard that in recent years there was a small parade at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort that included decorated carts, jazzy music, treats, and Disney character appearances, in addition to the bayou-inspired atmosphere the resort offers daily!
I hope this helps, Bridget. Be sure to keep an eye on the
Disney Parks Blog for official announcements about any festivities that may be planned as next March approaches, and I’ll be on the lookout, too! Please feel free to ask me any other questions you may have as you continue to plan.
Wishing you magic,
Courtney
