We're going to celebrate our college graduation! I'm trying to come up with a special surprise for my friends for when we arrive at the Boardwalk. I've checked Floral & gifts but there's no grad stuff? Any ideas?

Welcome to planDisney, Ellie and may I say, conGRADUATIONs!

A trip to the Walt Disney World Resort is a wonderful way to celebrate such a momentous accomplishment and I'm glad you dropped by with your question. Ellie, since you've already begun your research, let me offer up two ideas that Hercules might say are slightly off the beaten path... to Olympus.

First, have you considered a surprise dining reservation with the cutest Mickey-shaped cake? At participating restaurants guests can pre-order a cake (when you check-in) to have at the end of your meal. Since you're checking into Disney's BoardWalk Villas, a convenient spot you might want to consider is Ale & Compass Restaurant, located at Disney's Yacht Club Resort. If you choose a dining surprise, I highly recommend making Advanced Dining Reservations.

Ellie, depending upon the "cheese"-level of your friends, another fun surprise might be a Disney-style photo shoot. College graduation is certainly a milestone you won't soon forget and you can capture the fun with Disney Fine Art Photography. If you choose this idea, I recommend packing a few fun graduation-themed props in your suitcase to elevate the surprise! As we get closer to graduation season and the end of spring you are likely to see some specific graduation items (such as graduation themed Minnie Mouse Headband EARS and socks) pop up on the shopDisney website. While these aren't currently available, I encourage you to keep checking back as I have seen them available the last few years.

Ellie, I hope these suggestions help as you're gearing up for your celebration trip. As Walt himself said, "All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them." I hope you cherish your trip and from all of us here at planDisney, we offer you our best wishes as you embark on your next dream. Please come back and see us with any other questions you might have.
