Hi Terry!
I cannot wait for you to experience all of the magic included when you cruise to the
Bahamas with your crew on the Disney Dream.
Castaway Cay is definitely one of my all time favorite destinations with so many offerings...which makes choosing between all the activities and amenities that much harder!
Oh boy! Your question reminds me of Tangled...He's got a dream! You absolutely must consider booking a Port Adventure involving fishing. There are a couple of excellent ones showing up for Castaway Cay:
Abaco Flats Fly Fishing and
Abaco Backcountry Fishing Adventure. Both of them do not list any requirements about a minor being accompanied by an adult in the “Know Before You Go” listing for each one. But just to be safe, I would suggest
contacting Disney Cruise Line just to be sure Mother Gothel hasn’t added any new requirements to these Port Adventures.
While he’s off on his adventure, you and your daughter can go have a new one together! I’m not certain of your daughter’s age, but I can recommend snorkeling in the Snorkeling Lagoon together. My family loves snorkeling, especially on Castaway Cay since the lagoon is a sheltered cove. It truly makes swimming much easier! And if your daughter is between ages 3 and 12, she can play in Scuttle’s Cove, the Youth Club on the island. There’s also a great game pavilion called In Da Shade for games and sports. Finally, my favorite 3-in-1 combination activity is the
Castaway Cay Getaway Package which combines snorkel gear, one hour bike rental, and use of a float or inner tube.
You don’t need to light up the sky with lanterns like Rapunzel did if you need more planning tips. Simply send additional questions to the Disney Parks Moms Panel-we’re happy to help! Have a DREAMy cruise!
SEA ya real soon!
