We will be on Castaway Cay June 3. Is the 5k running that day?

Ahoy there, Adam - welcome to planDisney! Glad to have you aboard!

Ah, Disney Castaway Cay - nothing like a leisurely wake-up as the ship pulls into its berth...Wait, what's that? You want to RUN? On vacation?...Excuse my while I reference my notes...

Joking aside, one of my favorite things to do aboard any of the Disney Cruise Line ships is to keep up my fitness routine as well. My wife and I always joke that we're "Team No Elevators" from the moment we step aboard - and every day is leg day when you take the stairs! Between that, one or two stops into the fitness center at Senses Spa & Salon, and our tendency to walk around one of our favorite spots of the ship (Deck 4), there's no shortage of ways to stay active and see everything the ship has to offer!

Back to Castaway Cay, as part of Disney Cruise Line's Return to Sailing, some things have changed about the 5k, but I'm happy to report that you'll still be able to go for a PB while ashore! There's no better way to see the entire island than to take part in the Castaway Cay 5K - especially knowing that at the end of your run, you've got white sand beaches, turquoise waters, delicious food at Cookies BBQ , and more waiting for you!

As of the latest "Know Before You Go" information, there isn't the "group start" for the 5K that you may be used to, so you can run the course whenever it fits your day at Castaway Cay the best! So whether you'll still rush off the ship first thing in the morning, or take a mid-day break from the sun to check it off your cruise activities list, all you need to do is run your race and check the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app for information on where to pick up your finisher's medallion! That said, a lot could change between now and June, so keep a weather eye on the Know Before You Go page for the most up-to-date info!

Oh, and one last planDrew-Approved tip: remember Disney Castaway Cay is a tropical island paradise - which means sand...likely in your shoes...so if you've got a pair of shoes that you're ready to run into the sunset - give them one last hurrah for the Castaway Cay 5K so you won't have to shake sand out of them before your next race! What a way to call it a career.

Well Adam, I hope that helps you plan for your day at Castaway Cay that much better! Thank you for running by with your question, and I can't wait to hear how it goes! If you have any other questions as you continue planning for your Disney Cruise Line vacation, you'll know where to find us here at planDisney!

Just Keep Running, Just Keep Running...
