Hi Robert,
Thanks for visiting planDisney with your question about using cash at Walt Disney World. I've always found it more convenient during our Disney vacations to use our MagicBands, a gift card or other electronic means to pay for all our purchases. That way, I don't have to worry about keeping up with cash.
During the phased reopening of Walt Disney World, with its
enhanced health and safety measures, contactless payment is being encouraged even more than ever, though you still may use cash if you prefer.
If you are uncomfortable with using a credit card or electronic payment such as ApplePay, or with using your
MagicBand to charge purchases to your resort if you as staying in an official Disney resort, I would suggest using cash to purchase a gift card. They are available at many grocery stores, chain stores and warehouse membership locations. Or you can get a gift card at most
Walt Disney World resorts and gift shops.
One thing I like about using a gift card is that you always have a record of how much you've spent because the balance shows on each receipt. That's a good way to be sure you aren't exceeding your budget as you vacation.
I hope that's helpful, Robert. Please let us know if you have any other questions as you make your plans. Enjoy!
Wilma
