Just in case we are on a ride how long will your dinning reservations be held?

Hi there, Margaret, and welcome to planDisney!

Two things that I can’t imagine a Disney Parks day without: yummy eats and a thrilling attraction. So, I can totally see how you could potentially get wrapped up in the magic of a classic or new attraction when a tasty meal awaits. I am more than happy to share some of the experiences I’ve had in similar situations.

I spoke to a friendly Cast Member to make sure that I don’t lead you astray. He told me that you could be given a grace period up to 20 minutes. However, if you feel like you won’t make it on time, stop by with a restaurant Cast Member before your meal to tell them you could be arriving later than expected (due to a Virtual Queue, Lightning Lane window, or other reason).

I personally have been up to 10 minutes late for an advance dining reservations without penalty. Recently, I had breakfast at the long-awaited 1900 Park Fare at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Because I had to park farther away from the hotel, my family was around 10 minutes late to this character dining experience and were perfectly fine. In addition to that, I’ve also been on the road to a Walt Disney World dining reservation at Jiko—The Cooking Place and called the Dining Reservations hotline to see if they could modify our time so we could avoid any charges. In that particular case, it all worked out!

AN EXTRA GEM: I always like to include a 15-minute buffer between experiences to make sure that I arrive on time. For example, if I have an advance dining reservation at 5 p.m., I will avoid getting in a queue with a one-hour wait time at 4 p.m. The feeling of rushing to a reservation makes this super planner very anxious.

Margaret, please don’t hesitate to revisit us here at planDisney if you’d like to know more about maximizing your time during your vacation. See you real soon!

    Magic always,
