Hello Lara, and welcome to planDisney! I'm Kimberly, and I'll be your chief flight attendant today. We'll begin boarding in just a few minutes, but first, I'd like to acquaint you with some important safety information!
You can bring your belongings with you on most attractions at the
Disneyland Resort, but where those belongings should go is something we should talk about. If you're wearing a backpack, you'll need to remove it from your back and shoulders before boarding any attraction. On some attractions, you can place it at your feet. On others, I've found it's best to loop the backpack straps through your legs to help keep it secure. In the case of the
Incredicoaster at Disney California Adventure Park, you'll briefly go upside down, and you don’t want your belongings deciding to take a flight of their own!
If you're like me and love wearing Minnie ear headbands, you'll want to remove those, along with any hats your party may be wearing, before boarding the thrill rides. As our prospector guide on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad likes to remind us, "If any of you folks are wearin' hats or glasses, best remove 'em, 'cause this here's the wildest ride in the wilderness!"
All of the thrill attractions have a pouch at the front of your ride vehicle for smaller items like ears, hats, phones, and glasses. Just remember to check it before you exit the attraction! I've turned in many items that were left behind by fellow Guests. Quick note about phones: there are a few attractions that do not allow you to have a phone out, because if it happens to fall out of the ride vehicle, it shuts down the entire attraction, so listen to Cast Members closely when boarding, they will let you know if you need to put it securely away. And I have had my phone slide out of my pocket on a few attractions, so I have learned to not rely on my pockets for storing my phone while riding!
There is one exception when it comes to bringing your belongings along for the ride.
Grizzly River Run offers complimentary lockers for up to two hours near the attraction entrance because, well, a soaking wet backpack full of important items doesn't sound like a great idea! These large electronic lockers use a digital PIN system, and a single locker can typically hold enough belongings for two people, such as a full backpack and a sling bag.
Aside from making sure your items are secure, you'll want to get to your seat and fasten your safety belt or lower your safety bar, if equipped, quickly and safely so the adventure can begin! The Cast Member will have you pull on any safety strap to make sure you're securely ready for takeoff!
So Lara, let's review: seat, seatbelt, carry-on items, safety strap, keep your hands and arms inside at all times... anything else...? Oh yeah...
Have a nice flight! Kimberly
