Should you carry a knapsack for the day? Can you take these on the rides or do you have to check it everytime? Thinking about carrying a refillable bottle for the day and not sure what else I will need with me?

    Hi Alicia,

Thanks for stopping by planDisney with another question about your upcoming trip to Walt Disney World! I'm always happy to see a question from a fellow Ontarian, I'm ready to help! It looks like your trip is just around the river bend, so let's get right to it.

Carrying a backpack with personal items is such a personal choice, but I'm happy to share my experience. My family's been traveling to Disney World since my kids were babies, and our trips used to look quite different. We'd pack a backpack with things we'd need for the day and stash it in the stroller. Now that my kids are all older, there are some things we still like to keep with us, so we choose to carry a small backpack with items we'll need throughout the day.

Like you, we're avid refillable water bottle users, so we make sure to have them handy to keep hydrated at the parks. There are water bottle refill stations throughout the theme parks, or sometimes we'll refill our water bottles with a cup of water at a Quick Service location when we stop to grab a bite to eat.

We make sure to keep a small bottle of sunscreen in our bag so we can reapply it throughout the day. For trips during Winter or Spring, we Canadians need the protection since it's been so long since our skin has seen the sun! For days with a not-so-great forecast, we'll pack a light raincoat/packable poncho or a small umbrella just to be prepared. We also travel with a small rechargeable battery pack and cord so we can charge cell phones. My kids tend to get hungry at various times, so I always have a few snacks stashed in my bag just in case.

When it comes to attractions, most rides will have a spot to stash your bag in the ride vehicle. The more thrilling attractions have a small pouch for you to place small items, and Cast Members will mention that bigger items should be placed at your feet. Some attractions, such as TRON, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Kali River Rapids, all have complimentary lockers that Guests can access to keep their larger items safe.

If you prefer having access to your bag but don't want to carry it around with you, you can rent a locker (near the entrance to each theme park and water park). These lockers can be accessed throughout the day for a one-time charge. Guests can pay with cash or a major credit but if paying with a MagicBand or Disney Gift Card, Guests can visit the merchandise location that's closest to the lockers. A Cast Member will be happy to assist with the rental transaction.

I hope this helps you plan your day, Alicia. Thanks again for stopping by! If you have any other questions I can help with, please let me know. I'm happy to help!

    Warm hugs,
    Candace
