Hi, Kimberly! Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with this great question!
I am so glad to hEAR that you are already making plans for where you would like to dine during your
Walt Disney World Resort vacation!
Dining reservations can be made 180 days in advance, so this is the perfect time to start resEARching restaurant menus. As the mom of two picky eaters, I definitely understand your concerns about restaurants with more adventurous food selections. However, I am happy to tell you that the Cast Members at
Walt Disney World Resort restaurants go above and beyond to make sure that everyone enjoys their meal.
In my experience, most
buffet-style restaurants serve a wide variety of foods, so there is usually something to appeal to even the pickiest of eaters. Guests of all ages are welcome to help themselves to foods from the kids' section of the buffet. I'm not an overly picky eater, but I confess to enjoying a scoop of mac & cheese from the kids' buffet now and then.
If you will be dining at an all-you-care-to-enjoy, family-style restaurant, be sure to speak with your server if someone in your party does not care for the foods listed on the menu. The restaurant Cast Members are often happy to provide alternative choices. For example,
'Ohana is one of my family's favorite Walt Disney World Resort restaurants, but, other than the bread, there isn't much on the regular menu that my 13-year old son will eat. We have dined at 'Ohana on several occasions, and our server was happy to bring my son some chicken nuggets and fries alongside our Polynesian-style feast.
If you ever have any concern about a restaurant's menu, whether it is due to a
food allergy or dietary restriction, or simply due to the picky eaters in your family, please don't hesitate to speak to a Cast Member. They want their guests to have a great dining experience.
As you get ready to make your dining reservations, I would highly recommend booking at least one
character meal. Visiting with some of your favorite Disney friends while enjoying a delicious meal is fun for guests of all ages. If you would like some additional restaurant recommendations or any other
vacation planning advice, please visit us again.
See ya real soon!
