We will have a car during our stay (port orleans resort). We are traveling with grandparents close to 80. Mostly going to Magic Kingdom, would you recommend using the buses or driving the car to the park. Want to do what's easiest and has least walking

    Hi Renee ~

It is great to see that you are planning ahead for the Grandparents. You know their physical capabilities better than anyone but here are some things to consider.

If you decide to drive, they may have a shorter distance to walk from your hotel room to your car than the bus stop at your resort. However, once you park in the Magic Kingdom parking lot, you will take a tram to the Transportation and Ticket Center. Depending on where you are parked, it could be a little bit of a walk to board a tram. From there, you will board a monorail or ferry boat to the Magic Kingdom. One you reach the Magic Kingdom, it is a short walk from either to the front entrance.

If you take a bus from Port Orleans, it will take you to the front of the Magic Kingdom without the need to take a monorail or ferry boat. You will need to consider the walk from your hotel room to the bus stop. If possible, you may want to try to avoid traveling during peak times like trying to make rope drop. You may have to wait on more than one bus to board. During peak travel times during the day, the buses are crowded so keep that in mind if your grandparents need to sit during the ride (~ 17 minutes). There is some limited seating at the bus stops. Depending on where the bus drops you off at the bus depot at the Magic Kingdom, it may take you around 5 minutes to walk to the front gate but that will likely be less than the walk to the tram from your car.

We usually drive to the parks from our resort during our stay at Disney World. If your grandparents are able, the bus option would be less transitioning to get to the Magic Kingdom.

Please feel free to visit again with any other questions. We will be hEAR for you up until you embark on your pixie dusted trail!

Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
