Hi Cari!
I've found staying for Extra Magic Hours is worth it, simply because only resort guests can get on rides during those periods. Those not staying in a resort aren't forced to leave, but they can't get on any of the rides (so most do leave).
It's generally smaller crowds and you can get on some rides quicker. Plus, during Extra Magic Hours, the larger roller coasters and fast rides attract the bigger crowds, leaving even quicker access to the preschool friendly rides...
But children do have their own hours don't they? I have 2 children (ages 6 and 2), and I usually rent the double stroller just in case one falls asleep during the Extra Hours. But 4 may be a different story :-) It may be something to just play by ear..
Good Luck on your upcoming visit!
