I can't wait my husband and I are coming to WDW in September (leaving the kids home) and we were considering doing the Backstage Magic Tour. I have heard mixed reviews. Is it worth the money?

    Hi Melissa,

I LOVE the tours that Disney offers & the Backstage Magic Tour is one of my favorites. It focuses on how Cast Members (CMs) work together to create the magic. It lasts approximately 7 hours & covers a lot of ground going backstage at all 4 of the theme parks to see some super cool things. I won't give all the surprises away but here are some highlights.

You'll visit Creative Costuming at Disney's Hollywood Studios. This is where they make the awesome costumes for parade & stage performers and the princesses. You'll also get to check out one of the ride vehicles at Tower of Terror & learn some super cool things about how it works.

At Magic Kingdom, you'll go in the utilidors. For a Disney fanatic like me, watching all the CMs getting ready to appear "on stage" is super exciting.

At Epcot, you'll see how the American Adventure show comes to life. These audio-animatronics have their own hair & make-up artists.

At Animal Kingdom, you'll get up close & personal with the floats from Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade & then see the parade on-stage.

We also visited the Walt Disney World Nursery & Tree Farm where all the incredible topiaries come to life.

I loved visiting areas like Central Shops where they make lots of things including parade floats. Keep in mind that all the glitz is "on-stage" & the backstage areas is where all the prep work happens. Lunch is at the Whispering Canyon Cafe.

While I don't think its something you'd do every trip, I do think its worth the money to do it once. I loved hanging out with a CM all day. When booking, ask if any discounts are currently available. I have gotten discounts in the past with my Chase Disney Visa Card & with my annual pass. Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison
