I can’t link my magic bands to my account - it says they are already linked to an account but I ordered them and they were never used rescheduled trip from March 2020 to next week. How can I link my bands so they are available to use our first day?

Hi Kathy (fabulous name!), and welcome to planDisney!

I'm so glad you were able to reschedule your Walt Disney World Resort vacation! Last year was most un-magical, so it's wonderful that you'll finally get to take your pixie-dusted trip!

Okay, let's see if we can unravel what's going on with your MagicBands. Usually, when you order MagicBands as part of your Disney Resorts Collection hotel reservations, your bands will come to you already linked to your account and you won't have to do anything else with them. You really only need to link MagicBands manually if you bought them in a store at the Walt Disney World Resort or online at shopdisney.com. My guess is that your bands are just hiding in your account, so let's take a peek to try and find them.

To see if your MagicBands have already been linked, log in to your My Disney Experience account. You can do that by hopping over to the Walt Disney World home page and clicking on the "Sign In or Create Account" prompt just above the menu bar. Next, hover your cursor over the small "My Disney Experience" logo just below that, and select "My MagicBands and Cards" on the drop down menu. Scrolling down the next page, you should come to the names of Guests whose plans you manage on your account, with a notation of how many MagicBands or Admission Cards are assigned to each person. Clicking on the arrow next to each Guest opens a list with images of MagicBands and Cards associated with that Guest. You'll see the nickname printed on the band, if any, whether the band is currently "Active" and the band's unique number. Compare those numbers with the numbers on your MagicBands to see if they match. If they do, your bands are linked and you're good to go!

If you're not seeing your MagicBands on this list, you might try checking another My Disney Experience account. For example, if you and your spouse each have accounts or another member of your March traveling party booked the trip for you, the bands might have been linked to a different account. If you're still not finding them, it's time to bring in the cavalry and give Guest Relations a call at the number listed under "My Disney Experience and MagicBands." A Cast Member will be happy to work this all out for you.

Kathy, I have my fingers crossed that your MagicBands are right there waiting to be discovered in your My Disney Experience account! Have a truly magical vacation next week, and be sure to come see us again if you have any more questions!

    Keep Disney Dreaming,

    Kathy K.

Meet the Panelist: Kathy, Florida

I've lived my whole life just an hour's drive from Walt Disney World, so I've been a regular visitor for as long as I can remember. Even after all these years and so many visits, I love that there's still so much to discover! Now that I'm a mom myself, seeing my favorite place through my son's eyes has given me a whole new perspective that I enjoy sharing with other parents of young children. Learn More About Kathy
