We can't link Disney gift cards to our magic bands to cover purchases, right? So...linking credit card vs. debit card--is there a difference? Will either (or both) enable me to use our gift cards to pay off charges each night when we return to our resort?

    Hi Karen,

This is a great question! MagicBands can be tricky to figure out. But once you understand how they work, you'll wonder what you did without them!

First, there is no financial data stored on a MagicBand. When you check-in to your Disney Resort Hotel, you will be asked to provide a credit card to keep on file and choose a PIN for your MagicBand, which you will use to make purchases. In essence, using your MagicBand to pay will charge your purchase to your room.

If you wish to pay with a different method of payment after using your MagicBand, I recommend stopping by the Front Desk when you return your Disney Resort Hotel each night. A Cast Member will be happy to apply your charges to a gift card or debit card.

Your spending capabilities will depend on the spending limit you set at check-in and any requirements you have from your credit card company or bank.

I hope this helps as you plan your vacation, Karen. Enjoy your trip!
