Hey Corinne!
Welcome again to planDisney! May is a lovely time to visit the Parks and it is my favorite time to go! I'm hoping to have my first adult-only trip with my husband in over a decade this May and am excited to start planning!
You are correct in that indoor theater shows like
Festival of the Lion King,
Disney Junior Play and Dance! and
For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration do not allow open food and drinks to be consumed inside. You can munch as much as you want of your delicious snacks outside but you should be ready to finish it up before you enter. However, packaged food, refillable water bottles, and other food items can remain in your bags during the duration of the show. Packaged food can also be little resealable bags of carrot sticks and pretzels. There is just no open and consumed food during these shows as a courtesy to guests. I always travel with muffin bites in the Parks and keep several smushed pouches in my backpack during my trip to enjoy when strolling around. (I know, it sounds gross but they are so good!) Now, the rules vary by location as some theaters may allow it. I would just confirm with the Cast Members before you enter or read the sign at the front of each attraction. I want to remind you that
the rules state that any glass containers excluding small baby food-like jars are prohibited from the Parks. If you bring a cooler make sure that that is smaller than 24" long x15" wide x18" high and do not use any loose ice. I bring a few soft ice packs or freeze my beverages so that everything stays chilled.
I do know that y
ou can eat during
Fantasmic! at Disney's Hollywood Studios which I consider one of the best nighttime spectaculars on Walt Disney World Resort property. The first reason why, there are seats! After a long day, you want to sit down and relax and this is the best place. The second reason involves the fact that this show features so many characters, fire, fireworks, boats, Mickey Mouse, a giant dragon, dancing water, and music! The third reason is that you can enjoy food while watching this show! There is a snack stand just before you enter the theater with treats for sale. However, I recommend you elevate your experience by purchasing a Mickey Brownie Sundae from
Hollywood Scoops which is just outside of the entrance to the queue for Fantasmic!
I hope this helps and you have a great time!
Happy Planning!
