Can't decide between Polynesian and Beach Club. We have a 12, 8, and 2 year old. May have our Mother with us. Don't know if it will be too cold to enjoy Stormalong in Jan or Feb anyway. Has anyone been to both, at that time of year? Thoughts? Thanks!

    Hi Judy,

Both Polynesian and Beach Club are great resorts, and you'll have an enjoyable stay at whichever one you choose!  Having visited both, I'm partial to Beach Club any time of year.  You can't beat the location - especially if you are planning on visiting Epcot and Hollywood Studios frequently during your stay.  Beach Club is within walking distance of both parks.  Hollywood Studios is a bit of a hike, and you can also take the boat launch, but having the option to walk at the end of the evening when the lines for the boat is backed up is wonderful.

Being so close to Epcot makes it really convenient to plan dinner reservations at the great restaurants in World Showcase at Epcot.  You can also stroll along the Boardwalk in the evening to catch some of the fun entertainers.  There are also movies shown on the beach each night - it's a fun way to spend a night out of the parks.

As far as swimming and enjoying Stormalong Bay.  The pools at the resorts are heated.  For me, it's too cold to jump in, but my kids still manage to enjoy the pool no matter what time of year we visit.  Being from Wisconsin, you may find it tolerable.

The only complaint I have about Beach Club is the bus transportation to other parks.  Traveling to Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom from Beach Club is painless; however, when returning back to the resort, you should know that Beach Club is the last stop of 5 resorts: Boardwalk, Swan, Dolphin, Yacht and Beach Club.  If you're planning to spend the majority of your vacation at Magic Kingdom, then Polynesian is the resort for you.

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
