I cannot get a reservation at Chef Mickey's. We are staying at the Contemporary. Is it possible to get on a standby line for breakfast?

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Fara!

You are counting down the days to your holiday visit to the Walt Disney World Resort! My family recently returned from our own holiday celebration in The Most Magical Place on Earth, and let me tell you: they are ready for you! The decorations are up, the holiday snow is falling, the treats are baked, and the magic is in the air. You are going to love it!

I’m sorry to hear you’ve had trouble securing a dining reservation at Chef Mickey’s. A meal with Mickey and his best pals is one of the most popular dining reservations, and it can be a tough one to get, especially during the busy holiday season. But I have hope – and some ideas to help you pull up a chair at Chef Mickey’s.

First, and most important: keep checking! I am a pro at snagging last-minute dining reservations, and have seen availability at Chef Mickey’s even on the day-of. Using the My Disney Experience mobile app, keep checking for availability. Check at different times of day, and check each morning. Often Guests will make more dining reservations than they need and then drop some as the vacation approaches, or they’re way too busy having fun in the theme parks to take a break. Keep checking!

Since you’ll be a Guest at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, you could stop by Chef Mickey’s to speak to a Cast Member about availability. While walk-ins can sometimes be accommodated (for example, if there is a no-show), it’s never guaranteed. I polite check-in doesn’t hurt! (Plus, it’s right next door to Contempo Café, where you’ll likely be stopping for coffee or meals – and don’t miss their gorgeous cupcakes!) You could also stop by the Concierge desk to see if they’re able to assist.

Fara, I’m sending you pixie dust that you are able to get that Chef Mickey’s reservation! If you can’t find availability, may I suggest Cape May Café (for breakfast) or Tusker House Restaurant as alternatives? Both have delicious buffets and a chance to dine with Mickey and friends in fun outfits.

ChEARs to a fun character meal with your favorite people! Happy holidays, and have so much fun!

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
    Robyn
