Are cane chairs allowed? And can you get a DAS with a wheelchair?

Hiya, Angie! Welcome to planDisney—thanks so much for stopping by! With your visit to The Happiest Place on Earth coming up this spring, you’ll be arriving right in the middle of the Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration—a party filled with sparkling décor, commemorative merchandise, and plenty of special treats and surprises. What a magical backdrop for your trip!

Now, let’s get your questions answered. To start, I have some great news for you! Cane-chair mobility aids are on the list of permitted items at the Disneyland Resort, so you’ll be welcome to bring one along. These can be especially handy when you want to take a quick break while waiting for a parade or enjoying a sweet churro on Main Street, U.S.A.

When it comes to Disability Access Service (DAS), this program is designed specifically for Guests with developmental disabilities who may find it challenging to wait in a traditional queue. Wheelchairs, however, don’t require DAS enrollment. That’s because many attractions are wheelchair accessible from the start, while others have transfer-friendly ride vehicles or special access points. Cast Members are always nearby to offer help, making sure you’re comfortable and confident as you board each attraction.

For extra planning magic, you can also explore attraction accessibility right in the Disneyland mobile app. Simply tap the map pin icon at the bottom of the screen, then select the filters button (the round one on the left with three little lever lines) above the map. From there, scroll down to the “Mobility Disabilities” section to view options tailored to your needs. It’s a wonderful way to see at a glance which attractions are wheelchair accessible or require transfer, as well as those that offer alternative experiences.

With both the 70th Celebration festivities and your thoughtful planning, April is shaping up to be a wonderful time for your visit. I hope every moment feels as comfortable as it is magical, Angie—and that you head home with not just happy memories, but maybe even a few sparkling surprises, too!

    See ya real soon!
