Hi Candace! Roughly how long does the video chat interview/assessment to set up DAS take? Is it fairly short? Just want to make sure kiddo is aware of time length going in! And should we have our documents on hand?

    Hi Melissa,

Welcome to planDisney! It’s always a pleasure to hear from a fellow Canadian. Thank you for asking such a great question about the Disability Access Service (DAS). The DAS program is designed to assist Guests at Walt Disney World Resort theme parks who may have difficulty waiting for extended periods in a traditional queue.

Melissa, as you know, Guests can connect with a specially-trained Cast Member from the Disability Services Team virtually to determine eligibility for the service as soon as 30 days before their visit. The process is seamless and only takes a few minutes once connected. One of my fellow planDisney panelists recently completed a Live Video Chat for a family member, and she mentioned that the entire process took about 20 minutes. The best part is, your child doesn’t need to be in front of the screen the whole time, which can help make things easier. While no documents are required, just be sure your valid theme park tickets are linked to your My Disney Experience Mobile app for everyone in your party.

To pre-register, visit the DAS Registration Page and scroll down the page. Click on the blue button that says "Terms & Conditions" and then review and accept. Once this step is complete, you'll be able to click on the blue button at the bottom of the page that says "Request a Live Video Chat". The Disability Services Team will ask a few questions to assess your child's eligibility for DAS. If approved, you can start planning for each vacation day and book two DAS Advance selections per day.

Melissa, I hope this information is helpful to your vacation planning. Your spring getaway to Walt Disney World Resort will be here before you know it. Keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog for information on the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival as the dates should be released in the next few weeks. If tradition holds, you’ll have the chance to marvel at the beautiful topiaries of your favourite Disney characters, treat your tastebuds to delicious dishes from the Outdoor Kitchens or take in the sounds of the Garden Rocks Concert Series at the America Gardens Theatre - there is something for everyone! Please let me know if you have any other planning questions, I'd love to help!

    See ya real soon,
    Candace
