Welcome to
planDisney, Catherine!
As Ursula famously says, "Life’s full of tough choices, isn’t it?"—and sometimes, that means making the difficult decision to cancel a highly anticipated
Disney trip.
While policies are always subject to change, the
current Walt Disney World cancellation policy offers a full refund if you cancel a Disney Resort Hotel Package at least 30 days before your arrival. If you cancel between 29 and 2 days before your trip, you’ll receive a refund minus a $200 penalty per room—this includes any theme park tickets bundled with your package. However, if you cancel one day or less before your scheduled arrival, the entire package becomes non-refundable. Keep in mind that if you booked through a third-party hotel or special offer, additional cancellation fees may apply.
If you need to cancel a vacation package, you won’t be able to do it online—instead, you’ll need to call the
Disney Resort Hotel Reservation team, where a friendly Cast Member will be happy to assist you. They’ll walk you through your options and do their best to help.
So, should you consider travel insurance? That’s a personal decision, but it can provide peace of mind. I typically don’t purchase it for my Disney trips, but I’ll never forget the time my daughter caught the flu the day before our vacation—suddenly, "better safe than sorry" felt very real!
I hope that's helpful, Catherine. Thanks for choosing to be our Guest. If you have any more questions, you've got a friend in me.
Mike
