Ma chère Mademoiselle, it is with deepest pride and greatest pleasure that we welcome you to planDisney. Thanks for choosing to be our Guest, Kristin!
Whenever I plan a vacation to my second "home," I get so excited about all the
tasty places I hope to eat at. As Winnie the Pooh once said, "What could be more important than a little something to eat?" Guests can make dining reservations through their My Disney Experience account up to 60 days in advance of their trip. If you're staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel, then you get the added benefit of being able to make reservations up to 60 days in advance plus the length of your stay (up to 10 days).
Since your trip is coming up soon, you might have noticed that certain restaurants fill up quickly. Although there's no cancellation list, you'll be pleased to know that people often cancel their reservations last minute. The nearer you get to the date, you might find that tables start opening up. For example, a couple of weeks ago, my friends and I got a table for
Space 220 the day before our trip. The Blue Moon Cauliflower was out-of-this-world and the filet mignon was heavenly! You've just got to keep checking and quickly make the reservation if something opens up.
If you're having no luck, here's another suggestion for you: One of the helpful features on the My Disney Experience Mobile App is the ability to make
walk-up dining reservations at select restaurants. Let me walk you through the process:
- Find a participating restaurant and make sure you're in close proximity.
- Open your My Disney Experience app.
- Click on "Check Dining Availability," select the size of your party, select the date, and then select "Now" under "Search by Time."
- You should be able to view the estimated wait time for your restaurant.
- Once you are added to the standby list, you'll be notified when your table is ready.
Finally, don't overlook some of the great quick-service options throughout the theme parks. In Magic Kingdom Park, I'd recommend Colombia Harbour House. At Disney's Hollywood Studios, try Ronto Roasters or Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo. If you're at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, it's got to be Satu'li Canteen. And if you're in EPCOT, you've got great options all around World Showcase. However, I recently ate at
Connections Eatery (next to the new Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind attraction) and it was awesome. Try the General Tso Chicken Salad! You can even use the
Mobile Order Service, which is available at many quick-service locations.
I hope that's helpful, Kristin. Happy eating!
Mike
