Ahoy there, Larry, and welcome to planDisney. I wish you were sailing my way under better circumstances, but believe me when I say nobody understands cancelling cruises like I do. My family just had to cancel one of our planned cruises just about a week ago, and while we knew it had to be done, I always long for the sea even more after doing so. Let's drop anchor and get you shoreside.
To take the unfortunate step of cancelling your sailing and let the
Disney Cruise Line ships embark on their itinerary, you'll need to
contact a Disney Cruise Line crew member by phone. Not only does this ensure Guests don't accidentally cancel cruises left and right, but it also allows you to speak with a crew member about alternative sail dates, moving your cruise, or if you have to use the
Flexible Refund Policy to cancel due to Covid-19 exposure within 14 days of your sail date, that you won't be charged the usual cancellation fees. While I hope that isn't the case for you and your crew, the
book with confidence policy and other temporary refund policies have made making the difficult decision to cancel sting a little less.
If you are sure you want to sail at a later date, be sure to ask about simply applying the cruise funds you have paid toward the cruise you're cancelling to another date! That can save you the trouble of having to keep track of multiple credits on the card you used to book originally. That's right, any qualifying cancellation refunds due after you cancel are put back on the credit card that was used to make the reservation initially, so be sure to keep an eye on your statements for when those post to your account. This goes for any onboard credit or any amenities as well.
I hate to leave a fellow castaway ashore, but hopefully before long you'll be joining us on the bounding main for an incredible adventure soon, Larry. Thank you so much for your question, and if you have any additional thoughts about cruising after cancellation, please come back and see me here at planDisney, you've got a friend in me.
Until our paths cross again, keep a weather eye on the horizon!
Andrew
