If I cancel my October trip, will I get my deposit back?

    Hi Kati,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Thank you for stopping by with this great question!

Cancelling a trip to the Walt Disney World Resort is certainly one of my least favorite things to do, but sometimes, it must be done. Whether or not you can receive a full refund of your deposit may depend on how you booked your trip. If you booked it through a third-party site, you will need to check the cancellation policies with that site. For detailed information regarding Walt Disney World Resort cancellation policies, check the 2020 Website Terms and Conditions.

In the past, when I have booked directly through the Walt Disney World Resort website or a travel agency and cancelled 30 or more days prior to our trip, I have received a full refund of our deposit. If you booked through a travel agency, double-check the cancellation policies with that agency. Also keep in mind that if you booked airfare as a part of your vacation package, that airfare may be subject to the cancellation policies of the airline. And, you may not receive a refund for other non-refundable items including but not limited to race registrations or travel protection plan costs.

Given the unpredictability of travel these days, I would caution you to be absolutely certain that you need to cancel prior to making that final decision. With phased reopening, guests with existing reservations are receiving up-to-date information regarding resort hotel and/or theme park operations. Be sure to check the latest updates on cancellation policies as you consider your decision. How you might get a refund may also depend on whether you booked a vacation package or booked your resort hotel and tickets separately. In some cases, ticket expiration dates are automatically being extended through September 26, 2021.

Katie, the happy news is that Cast Members are busy working to help guests who may have to modify or cancel their travel plans, so feel free to call 407-939-1936 if you cannot cancel online. In the meantime, I trust that you will be able to reschedule your visit to a world of magic soon!

    Magic and memories,
