    If I cancel my Disney World vacation, but plan a trip to Disneyland instead, is the deposit transferrable? And if not, how long before the deposit is refunded? Our plans changed this week and we are going to visit family in California after Christmas.

    Hi there, Misty! Welcome to planDisney and thanks so much for bringing us your question. As you’ve already experienced, these unprecedented times have led to the need to be flexible in your vacation planning. Luckily, Walt Disney World vacation plans have always benefited from a lenient cancellation policy! All that is usually required to book a vacation package is a small deposit, and the remainder of your vacation balance is not due until 30 days prior to your trip! 

    It sounds like your Florida vacation may be at the end of this year. If so, you are well within that 30-day window, and cancellation of your vacation package would yield a refund of your deposit within 10-14 business days from your cancellation. This applies to trips booked directly through Walt Disney World or through a certified Disney travel agency. If you are ready to proceed, simply contact Disney Reservations or your travel agent, and you will be on your way. Instead of transferring the deposit, you will receive it back so that you can then book the Disneyland vacation of your dreams!
