Hi there, can you cancel your dinner reservation if your child is unable to make it? Currently we're booked at 7:20 pm one night (that's all that was available) but it might be too late for my daughter to eat.

    Hi Kaitlin,

Thanks for visiting us at the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

I’m so sorry to hear that you have made a dinner reservation that your whole dining group won’t be able to enjoy. I do understand, though, and I can tell you I have needed to cancel a reservation or two myself because the timing did not work as I had hoped when I made the reservation.

You don’t mention at which restaurant you made the reservation. My experience is that you’ll want to simply check the cancellation policy of the restaurant. Cancellation policies will vary from restaurant to restaurant.  If you cancel within the acceptable cancellation period, you should be fine. You can call (407) WDW-DINE or (407) 939-3463 to discuss your reservation and get details on the cancellation policy.

One tip I’d like to share: please do check back often to see if your restaurant of choice has an open reservation at a time that might work better for your group and your daughter.  If you are out and about in the parks, you can use the mobile app to see available dining options. Even if your restaurant of choice is not available, there are any number of really wonderful dining options for you at at time that works best for you.

Meet the Panelist: Jerry, Pennsylvania

The playful and creative optimism of all things Disney has enthralled me since I was a kid. I loved watching "The Wonderful World of Disney" on Sunday nights, seeing all the live-action and animated classics in theaters, and — of course — visiting "The Most Magical Place on Earth" for the first time 45 years ago. These days, the big kid in me still loves to play Disney. As a long-time Disney destinations vacationer, I'm looking forward to helping you play Disney starting here at planDisney!
