Hi James,
Welcome to planDisney!
First, let me say that I am sad to hear that you need to cancel a reservation for the Walt Disney World Resort. I always
link my vacation packages and/or resort hotel reservations in My Disney Experience. Typically, I can then cancel those reservations in
My Disney Experience account online. If you cannot get the reservation linked in my Disney Experience, you can always
contact a Cast Member by phone to cancel that reservation.
When you made the reservation, you should have received an email confirmation. Have that confirmation number handy if you have to call. Also check the final payment due date to make sure you are still within the cancelation window and can cancel without penalty. Once you cancel, if the deposit is refunded, it may take a week to receive the credit back to your account.
Although it sounds like you may truly need to cancel that reservation, you could also consider modifying it. Check the
Special Offers before canceling to see if there are any additional discounts for other dates. If you modify the vacation package or resort hotel, be sure to make
Disney Park Pass system reservations for the new dates.
Also note, if you made
advanced dining reservations for your trip, you will need to cancel those separately. And, if you modify to new dates, remember to make advanced dining reservations when your
dining reservation window opens.
James, I understand if you have to cancel. We've had to cancel before and as much as it makes me sad, I trust that you will be able to reschedule and visit us real soon. Just keep an eye on the
operational updates since policies and procedures could change before your next visit!
Magic and memories,
Donyell
