Firstly, I am so sorry to hear that you may need to cancel an existing booking for an upcoming visit to
Walt Disney World.
Unfortunately, without knowing which Company you have made your existing booking with, it is impossible for me to say whether you would be able to cancel and receive a refund for the deposit you paid at the time of booking, or not.
If you booked a Hotel + Ticket package via the UK version of the Walt Disney World website, your booking is with a Travel Agent called the
Walt Disney Travel Company. I spoke to one of their Disney Agents called Melissa this afternoon who confirmed that if you were to cancel a Hotel + Ticket package booking with them, you would loose the deposit you made at the time of booking.
It might, however, be possible to amend your existing booking to a different hotel, room category at your existing hotel or, travel dates without incurring any penalty.
Jane, the only way to find out for certain what the terms and conditions applicable to the cancellation of your existing booking are, is to contact the Company who you made your booking with. You should be able to find their contact information on your booking confirmation. They will be able to access your booking, confirm exactly what the situation is and advise if there are any other options available to you.
