I see that you are also Canadian. We are thinking of buying Disney gift cards (in Ontario) and using them to budget for Disney. Can we buy gift cards (from Canada) and use them for dining? I realize they will still be the value of the Canadian dollar. TIA

Greetings, Jana and welcome back to planDisney!

Jana, thank you so much for consulting planDisney again for your upcoming vacation and as a fellow Canadian, it would be my honour to help you out.

The Disney Gift Card is an easy and convenient way to pay for just about anything at a participating location including many dining venues during your Walt Disney World Resort vacation. You can even use your Disney Gift Card(s) for merchandise shopping at shopDisney.

Jana, you are correct, if you purchase a Disney Gift Card(s) in Canada it will be in Canadian funds and then converted to the U.S. equivalent at the point of redemption. Since we Canadians, at this time, have to resolve the fact that we have to pay a currency exchange rate, may I suggest buying a Disney Gift Card eGift online directly in U.S. funds? As soon as you purchase the eGift you will receive an email with a link to add the eGift amount in U.S. funds to your digital wallet on your mobile device. You can keep track of your balance and reload funds in U.S. currency via your Disney Gift Card website account. This is what I do now, and I find it very convenient.

Did you know that you can also load your Disney Gift Card(s), up to six gift cards in your My Disney Experience Mobile App? You can add the physical gift cards in Canadian funds, which will be converted to the U.S. equivalent at the point of redemption, or you can add your Disney Gift Card eGift by simply adding the eGift ID number information in the Payment Method via your My Profile.

    Tips:
Did you know that by using the My Disney Experience Mobile App you can create a Disney MagicMobile pass to access your Walt Disney World Resort theme park admission from your digital wallet on your mobile device with Disney MagicMobile Service? You will be able to access many vacation essential entitlements this way - I loved using my Apple Watch to gain entry into the theme parks and even connect with a Disney PhotoPass photographer to link my photos!

By updating the Payment Method in the My Disney Experience Mobile App you can enjoy the contactless convenience of Mobile Food & Beverage Ordering and joining walk-up waitlists for participating Walt Disney World Resort Table-Service venues!

Jana, don't forget to make your Disney Park Pass - Theme Park Reservations for each day of your valid admission, as this is the process of visiting the theme parks at this time.

Now, it's time to pack and get ready for The World's Most Magical Celebration on Earth, the 50th Anniversary Celebration!

    See Ya Real Soon, Pal!
