Danielle from NB Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

Canadian resident living close to the US border with a reservation at POR in Nov., wondering if i will be able to make lightning lane reservations 7 days out if I cross the border to do so. Thanks!

Bonjour Danielle, it's so great to welcome fellow Canadian regulars back to planDisney!

Taking a look back at all of the questions you've asked the Panel for over a decade now, it's so heartwarming to see that you've been able to connect frequently with fellow francophones like former Panelist Lynne or receive answers from Ariane in the past; you might be pleased to hear that there are now three Canadians serving on planDisney as its Canadian ambassadors so you're always welcome to come back as often as you'd like!

The recent announcement of the launch of Lightning Lane passes on July 24 certainly came with its share of concern for many folks and families across Canada wondering whether they would have to find ways across the border ahead of their trip down in order to get around the fact that international guests weren't eligible to purchase Lightning Lane passes until they were physically in the United States.  (Now for folks living in places like the border towns of New Brunswick where a quick hop over is something that can be much more easily accomplished, it would have been interesting to observe how successful this theory would have worked.)

Fortunately to the relief of Canucks everywhere, updated messaging was officially released by Disney as follows: "Canadian guests may continue to use the My Disney Experience app after the launch of pre-arrival purchasing and planning for Lightning Lane passes." At the current time we can confirm here at planDisney that guests in Canada will be able to purchase Lightning Lane passes from Canada, and I'll be sure to watch closely from July 24 onward to see how this can be accomplished - especially as we've already seen how offerings and policies may be subject to change without prior notice. You may be interested to learn that at the present time Canadians have been able to make bookings for select experiences, purchase theme park admission and continue to be encouraged to plan their Walt Disney World Resort vacations using the My Disney Experience app in a way that guests from other countries outside of the United States can't, and hopefully this is something that can continue to remain consistent despite any future updates.

It also looks like you've been a fellow fan of Disney's Port Orleans Resort and as I looked as your past questions I wondered if you leaned more toward either Riverside or French Quarter?  Personally I've always enjoyed being able to drop by Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory for some great gumbo and jambalaya before finishing off with some beignets from Scat Cat's Club - Café! Here's hoping you'll get a chance to have a seamless story heading from those beautiful resort surroundings to hop on Tiana's Bayou's Adventure!

Hope to see you back again here soon at planDisney!
