Hi there, Meagan, and welcome to planDisney!
For those of us hoping to never
pass up an opportunity to make magical memories, Walt Disney World Resort Annual Passes are a wonderful investment. My husband and I love the ability to pop into a Walt Disney World theme park for a delicious quick bite at
Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen before fireworks or a quick ride on our favorite attraction, Slinky Dog Dash, and not feel that we have wasted an entire date-based ticket on just a couple of hours. I'm always happy to welcome new Mouseketeers into the Passholder family, so let's talk details!
Walt Disney World Resort Annual Passes can be purchased online or in-person at any theme park ticket window as well as the
Disney Ticket Center at Disney Springs. Since you are a Canadian resident and would most likely be making the purchase online, you would have
one calendar year from the date of purchase to activate the Annual Pass by using it to gain entry to a Walt Disney World Resort theme park. You would then have unlimited access (pending available
theme park reservations) to The Most Magical Place on Earth for one calendar year from the date of first use. If for some reason you were unable to visit Walt Disney World Resort within the allotted time frame for activation, you would need to purchase a new Annual Pass but would be able to apply the price of your unactivated pass to the cost of your new one.
Some Guests prefer to make their initial Annual Pass purchase in advance to secure current rates in the event of a potential future price increase, but if you're planning multiple visits in the same year and are not concerned about a potential price increase for Annual Passes before your vacation, I recommend upgrading your theme park tickets to an Annual Pass during your vacation. This can be done at any ticket window or Guest Relations location inside the theme parks. I love this method of purchase because applying the price of your previously purchased theme park tickets to the cost of an Annual Pass divides it into two distinct payments rather than the typical lump sum. It's important to remember when using this method that the upgrade must be completed while the theme park ticket is still valid (before the final day of use) and that the Annual Pass will remain valid for one year from the date of first use for the original theme park ticket, not the date of the Annual Pass upgrade if they differ.
With the pending unveiling of Tiana's Bayou Adventure and the completion of EPCOT's epic transformation,
there's so much to look forward to in 2024 and beyond. I hope this information was helpful, Meaghan, and that you find yourself in the middle of the magic soon. If you need any additional assistance as you begin the planning process, don't hesitate to stop back by. Hakuna matata.
I'm always happy to help!
Thinking happy thoughts,
Lizzie
