Well hello again Kim, it's great to see you sail back in to our little port that we call planDisney!
Can you believe that it's almost been a decade since
you last came to us about your first cruise with an infant who has likely grown into an older Oceaneer by now, and there have definitely been just as many other exciting changes over the past few years at Disney Cruise Line! There's a lot of convenience to be had when accessing your stateroom or charging purchases to your onboard folio with the tap of the wrist, and ever since I was part of the testing of this wrist-worn technology as a Crew Member over a decade ago it's been great to see these make their way to the ships over the past year! Since
pre-purchasing ahead of the cruise is only available to US residents, international guests have had to either resort to using their existing bands (known as MagicBand+ within the United States) from trips to Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort which have the same functionality on board, or patiently wait until their embarkation day to possible purchase one during their voyage.
You'll be happy to hear that I was able to purchase a
DisneyBand+ on board, right from
Mickey's Mainsail - though this is subject to availability across the fleet and may depend on where you're sailing. DisneyBand+ only
became available on the Disney Wonder just a few months ago, and on my more recent voyage on the Disney Wish the selection of designs found on board was a bit more limited compared to my previous sailing. I personally recommend snagging yours as early as possible once the shops open, to make the most of what you can do with it while you're on board!
Something to keep in mind is that you may need to make sure it's fully charged and update your
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app just to make sure that it works and is successfully paired to your account - I certainly observed several guests seeking help from the Crew Members at the
Guest Services Desk with similar concerns. You'll also want to have your
Key to the World Card handy as well as a piece of identification just in case you'll be requested to present either when you head off the ship, but it's great to hear that fellow seafarers have easily been able to debark in destinations like
Disney Castaway Cay or
Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point wearing their DisneyBand+ and feeling at ease knowing they'll handle all the aquatic fun to be had in the beautiful Bahamian waters.
Here's hoping you'll be able get your hands on one, or rather have a DisneyBand+ to wear on your hand on your upcoming Disney adventures! In the meantime, come on back to ask our Disney Cruise Line experts about any other bits of advice they can share - and
see how they recently spent a day at Disney Lookout Cay to be inspired for your future journeys!
Wishing you and every fellow Canadian the smoothest of sailings!
Prince
