Hello and welcome to
planDisney, Julia!
I see that your vacation is in just a few short weeks. Are you getting so excited? The countdown is certainly on!
Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground is such a great choice. My family and I love it there! In fact, we love it so much that we stay there over Christmas week each year. It just feels like a down-home Christmas - except home is at Walt Disney World.
Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground don't have the typical ring for fires that most campgrounds do, Julia. In fact, firepits at campsites used to be banned completely. However, policies in recent years has changed but you have to bring your own and it has to meet certain specifications. Here's what a firepit must have if you are bringing one with you.
Must be made of metal
Metal legs lift the campfire off the ground
Solid metal top to prevent flying embers
Metal grate around the fire area to keep sparks and wood from coming out
Basically, it's a lifted enclosed firepit. Most people don't have one of those or don't want to cart it down with them so the solution is to let Chip and Dale make a campfire for you. That's right! Each night at The Fort,
Chip and Dale host a campfire for Guests to enjoy. Typically it starts around 6:30 p.m. but times are subject to change. I recommend checking with a Cast Member about the time when you arrive. Over there, you'll find a food truck that sells s'mores kits for your roasting enjoyment! An outdoor movie plays in the background and it's a rootin' tootin' good time!
I hope you enjoy staying at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. If you have any other questions about camping, please feel free to stop back by and
ask me. I'm happy to help!
Enjoy!
