Hey there, Sandra. Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question. I am excited to see you are considering staying at
The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort for your vacation later this year. My family and I stay there over the week of Christmas every year and absolutely love it. You are going to have a great time.
I think you will be happy to know that you can, indeed, bring your dog with you if you are staying in your motor-home at Disney's Fort Wilderness. Dogs are permitted in most campers except for pop-up campers and tents. When booking your campsite, you will need to mention to the Cast Member helping you on the phone that you will need to be placed in a pet-friendly loop. This request is a $5.00 a night up-charge. If you are booking your vacation online, you'll need to make the request by selecting the "Add" button when you get to the "Room and Amenity Request" section of the booking process. There will be a small box where you can type a request a pet-friendly loop. Also, I highly encourage you to bring proof of your dog's vaccination records. You may be asked to show proof that your dog is current on their Rabies, Parvo, DHLP and Bordatella vaccines. You'll be required to be with your dog anytime it is outside and it must remain leashed at all times. The only time your dog can be unleashed and outside is when visiting the Waggin' Trails Dog Park. The park is open from dawn to dusk and I have personally witnessed many dogs enjoying this space. I'm sure you know this but you are also required to clean up after your dog whenever it uses the bathroom whether it is in a public space or at your campsite. When you leave your motor-home to visit the Walt Disney World Theme Parks, your motor-home must remain climate controlled to keep your dog comfortable while he or she waits for your return. If your dog is constantly barking, you may receive a call from Disney's Fort Wilderness to come back and check on your pup.
If you don't want to leave your dog in your motor-home while you are out, you can enroll him or her into doggie daycare at
Best Friends Pet Care on Walt Disney World Property. Because you are an on-property Guest, you will even receive a discount. Best Friends Pet Care is open one hour prior to the theme parks opening and stays open until one hour after the theme parks close giving Guests plenty of time to plan their day accordingly. It is really a great option if you know you are going to have a long day away from your campsite.
I am glad that you'll be able to take your dog with you on vacation, Sandra. If you have any other questions about staying at Disney's Fort Wilderness or anything else, I'd love for you to come back and
ask me. Have fun!
