Are campfires allowed at fort wilderness?

Hi Gail! Although Florida is a warm state for most of the year many of the guests at Fort Wilderness  find special evenings where they enjoy sitting under the stars and enjoying the peaceful side of Walt Disney World.

Campfires are indeed allowed but they must be approved and fully enclosed. You can see some pictures of the types that are approved by googling "Disney Approved Firepits". If you have any questions you can contact the Fort Wilderness Resort at 407-824-2837. The cast members there can better describe the requirements of firepits.

You can also check with Florida Camper Rental as they used to rent the approved firepits for Fort Wilderness if you don't want to try bringing one yourself.

Enjoy your stay. I have many memories of watching the stars and seeing meteorites shooting across the night skies.
