Hey there, Kristian. Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question.
I always enjoy staying at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.
Renting a golf cart certainly adds to all of the fun. I do know that the call centers are experience a high volume of calls. When I reserved a golf cart over my Christmas vacation, I probably waited on hold about 30 minutes or so. The only way to reserve a golf cart ahead of time is by calling (407) 824-2742. I had to call back to modify my golf cart rental reservation and decided to give it a shot right when the reservation hotline opened up at 7:00 a.m. and was able to get through in about 5 minutes. I think calling right when they open is key if you don't want to be placed on hold for an extended period of time. Unreserved golf carts are also rented out at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you really don't want to wait on hold and are feeling lucky, you could try a day of reservation instead. But, if you have your heart set on renting a golf cart I'd just go ahead and call. Golf cart rentals cost $62.91 plus tax per day. Rentals are available to Guests over the age of 18 with a valid drivers licences. Drivers must be 16 years of age and older, have a valid licence and present it to the Cast Member working to verify when you pick up your golf cart. Golf carts are available for pick up at 1:00 p.m. and must be returned by 11:00 a.m. on the return date.
While you are at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, I hope you'll drive your golf cart over to The Settlement area to pick up some dinner at
P & J's Southern Takeout. While they do serve all three meals and I do love a good Mickey waffle, don't get me wrong, I think dinner is the best meal of the day that they offer. I highly suggest ordering the Full-slab barbecued rubs and 8-piece fried chicken dinner if you are feeding a crowd. This meal serves 6 to 6 people and I have comfortably fed 5 with leftovers to spare. On top of the finger lickin' good full-slab of barbecued ribs and fried chicken you also get a whole loaf of cornbread and 4 sides. The choices for those include coleslaw, baked beans, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy and french fries. The best part is that whole meal only rings up at $44.99. It's the best value for dinner on Walt Disney World property and it is so good. If you are feeling up for it, I also suggest ordering a strawberry shortcake to split for dessert. It's a perfect finish to the meal.
Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground is a lot of fun, Kristian. If you have more questions about staying there,
I'd love to help.
Have a great day!
